Community Fish Tank Gets a Facelift
Student from Falmouth Marine School have restored a fish tank at Age UK Falmouth, bringing joy to the local community and demonstrating their dedication to both marine science and community service.
When an issue was detected in the community centre’s fish tank, a team of Marine Science students promptly responded to diagnose and resolve the problem.
The students used their expert knowledge to maintain and clean the tank and provide a temporary hospital set up whilst a new tank was sourced, ensuring the health and welfare of the fish, which serve as a source of comfort and enjoyment for the visitors to the centre.
Steve Taylor, head of Falmouth Marine School, said: “We’re very proud of our students for stepping up and taking the initiative to support Age UK Falmouth. This project reflects not only the technical abilities they’ve developed but also their understanding of community and responsibility.”
Age UK Falmouth staff and visitors have expressed gratitude to the students for their care and attention to the restoration, the students’ dedication shows just how much vocational education can benefit both the community and the environment.
Students Ivy Tristram, Joel Needham, Emily Macpherson and Lakisha Young contributed to the restoration of the fish tank and revisited Age UK Falmouth to check-up on the fish a couple of weeks later, to ensure all was well.
