Watersports Instructor Diploma
This is a unique course which is perfect for anyone who loves spending time outdoors and taking part in sports. The aim is to prepare students for a career in the watersports and wider outdoor industry.
Students spend 75% of their time at Sithians Lake developing their personal and coaching skills in sailing, windsurfing, paddleboarding and kayaking.
Students also have the opportunity to complete NGB qualifications to allow them to instruct a range of watersports such as RYA dinghy instructor, RYA windsurf instructor, Outdoor first aid, Powerboart Level 2, paddleboard instructor etc. (These additional courses may include a fee to cover the costs of certification and external trainers).

What you will learn
In addition to developing skills in a range of watersports, student will study the following modules:
- Preparing for a career in sport
- Sports coaching
- Assessing risk
- Principles and practices in outdoor adventure
- Current issues in sport
- Alternative pursuits
- Exercise health and lifestyle
- Leading a waterbased activity session
- Work experience
Entry requirements
4 GCSEs at grade 4 or above.
Assessment
The course is assessed through written coursework, practical demonstrations and presentations. There are no exams.
